WHAT ARE WE ALL ABOUT?

Musical Stars are classes for children who love performing, want to develop the art of engaging audiences, who can’t stop dancing, enjoy music and working as part of a team.

Our passion is to provide children with the skills, confidence and secure environment to do all of these things. We take our youngest and build their skills giving them enough to succeed and enjoy while having fun. The older students continue to develop their skills and are challenged further with more performance opportunities introduced.

Our aim is to provide for every child’s need at an appropriate level, we are building their confidence together with their drive, commitment and ability. From providing development classes for those who need the basic skills to advanced programmes for those working at a higher level. Our experienced teachers continuously assess and make decisions according to individual needs.

MUSICAL THEATRE IS A TEAM GAME

Musical Theatre, just like netball or soccer is a team sport – except with jazz hands! Your children come to Musical Stars to learn to sing and dance and perform. But perhaps more importantly, they also learn how much can be accomplished when people work together for the greater good.

In musical theatre, every contribution is vitally important. The child who plays a minor role well is every bit as important to the overall success of the production as the child who plays the lead.

Musical Stars sessions run every week for 2 hours.

Children are divided into 3 different age group classes that rotate between 45 minutes of dancing, acting and singing lessons run by one of our experienced and talented teachers.

HOW WE WORK

IN EVERY MUSICAL STARS CLASS, YOUR CHILD WILL RECEIVE SPECIALIST INSTRUCTION IN DANCE, SINGING, DRAMA AND STAGECRAFT. Here is an overview of what to expect in a year at Musical Stars

TERM ONE

In Term One we concentrate on skill development. During each two-hour session, your child will rotate through classes in drama, dance and singing. In the last week of Term One, the children present a brief Showcase of work for families.

AUDITIONS AND CASTING

Auditions are held at the end of Term One/ beginning of Term Two, with additional auditions and call-backs during the weekend.

Auditions are not compulsory, but they are a great experience and we encourage your child to give it a go! Your child will get guidance and advice about the audition process and how to prepare during class time. Rest assured, all Musical Stars students will be cast in the shows, whether they audition or not.

TERMS TWO AND THREE

Class time is spent learning ensemble songs and harmonies, dance routines and blocking for the shows. Attendance in these terms is super-important as we work towards the deadline of SHOW WEEK in September!

Every July school holidays we also run a fabulous holiday programme. Some weekend rehearsals will be scheduled as needed in Term 3.

TERM FOUR

Term Four returns to regular classes and preparation for our Christmas show, and annual Christmas concert at the Vincentian Rest home in Berhampore. This last event is a great way for Musical Stars children to give back to their community!
